He‘eia State Park is located on the Windward side of Oahu. Tourists and locals alike have been drawn to the Windward coast of Oahu for its lush rainforests, beautiful beaches and bays, and for the local feel of traditional Hawaii. Our waterfront programs operate out of He‘eia State Park on Kaneohe Bay. The Bay is known for spectacular reefs, stunning views of the Ko‘olau Mountains, and for calm waters. Kaneohe Bay is Oahu’s only barrier reef which insures that there is no open ocean swell, because of this coral is able to grow much more abundantly which translates to a greater variety of sea life. Our programs will take you to some of the best snorkeling spots on the Island. The most stunning parts of the bay are only accessible by boat and we can take you there.
Kama‘aina Kids have been operating waterfront and environmental education programs on Kaneohe Bay for over 20 years.
- Each year up to 2,000 school-aged children participate in waterfront activities as part of Kama‘aina Kids Summer Day Camp and other intersession programs
- Each year an average of 5,000 visitors enjoy guided kayak eco-tours of Kaneohe Bay
- Visitors are also provided snorkeling gear to enjoy the Bay’s unique heritage up close for a more intimate experience
- Kayak rentals are provided for the adventurist and to freely enjoy themselves at their own pace and leisure
